Frame size (HxL)  9 1/8” x 11”

Vintage Philippines National flag, hand-sewn with the triangle of the Masonry embroidered with the mythical sun with 8 rays representing the 8 provinces that started the 1896 revolution against the Spanish rule, and 3 five-pointed golden stars in each corner of the vertex that stand for the 3 main islands, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The flag’s color scheme also has significant meaning; the white section stands for liberty, equality, and fraternity, red represents courage and patriotism while the blue stands for justice and peace.

The flag was banned between 1907 and 1919, when the Philippines came under American control. In 1920 it was formally adopted as the nation’s flag and has been the official flag since except for a brief period of Japanese occupation during WWII.

Condition is excellent with natural aging throughout, flag is pressure mounted, wood frame, black with gold trim.
